One of my favourite phrases honestly since... well you'd know that I'm far from being a saint. So I can hardly point an accusatory finger on others when they actually fall from grace.
By now even though most of the original furore has died down, I think quite a few folks are still buzzing about one of our federal ministers literally caught with his pants down. In flagrante delicto on a sex tape scandal too ( in this era of technological wizardry! ) and no doubt edited clips on youtube for a short while before the authorities desperately seek to ban the copies.
Of course while I deplore the sordid nature of his libidinous ( and adulterous ) exploits, I find it even worse that he was caught for it! :P
Not that I blame the man.
Caught in the act!
Since I find that I'm one of the few who finds that he should just continue to brazenly work it out rather than to step down as a minister. I know the honourable deed would be to gracefully resign but ... hell, he did a good job. Let's face it, there hasn't been that many positive changes in the Ministry of Health ever since he took up the post. Changes in work culture, better working conditions, pay hikes... the man is doing his job.
And I honestly couldn't care less whether he plays golf, does Sudoku or commits sexual indiscretions in his spare time since his personal life has little bearing on his work life. I know a leader should be exemplary - but I think that should only extend to the job. He ain't the Minister of Moral Rectitude. He ain't my priest. As long as he gets the job done ( without corruption galore ), I don't care what goes on behind closed doors in his bedroom. Whether he performs the Dance of the Seven Veils in a lingerie set from Blush or whether he hires twenty male strippers to do a lapdance ... hell, he could wear pig masks while committing scandalous S&M practices and I wouldn't give a damn. I would be plenty titillated though.
But as usual there are always plenty of indignant, holier-than-thou souls around after all ready to cast the first stone.
So what should our political black sheep do now? Well I believe the man should start looking for a savvy political spinmeister. After all, darlings, there is no such thing as bad publicity.
And you can always write a good book. We all love salacious gossip after all.

isn't he your boss? like really really big big boss?
anyway, its politic.. you can never expect anything good out of it.
hey yah he is one of the few ministers that really did his job well.. really feel that he no need to quit his job lar... and remember we also getting the cheapest medical service fee in the world too :)
I blame the chick. If she hadn't eaten the apple, we could have had Apple pie.
Everyone's human and as humans, sexual desire is a natural thing. Besides, if he didn't own up I don't think anyone could implicate him directly in those clips. Could they? It was really a very bad quality vid after all and the two people humping away were barely identifiable.
Malaysians know how to get their spunk spanked on the international screens! I'm so in love with our glorious newsbreaking scandals...
:) Why don't you let people email you, Paul? :P
Happy new year, Paul! Hope you had your fireworks going, too. :)
Happy New Year Paul & Complimets of the Season! Yes! My Stand is the same as yours, we should judge the man based on his ministerial work & not his personal life. What's even more crapy is the fact that most government leaders judged him based on Islamic Standards of Morality! And then they very quickly say that it's National standars of Morality. So it's save to say that National Standards of Morality is Islamic in Nature & to me that grossly undemocratic!
Personally, I think his personal affairs really not my business as long it doesn't interfere with his official duties. I think there's a clear cut distinction between business and private matters here. But the people are better judges? Just too bad I think....
sigh. what i don't like is the double standard surrounding the matter.
if he were an opp leader, everyone would be slandering him left, right and center.
if he were female, they'd be calling him a slut all the way too. regardless of whether he were ruling or opp minister.
if he were homosexual... they'd persecute him to hell and back. they'd be no shred of dignity left for him.
and really, regardless of whether it were official or personal, what he did was wrong. think how his wife feels. how his children feels. yes, he may have been brave and owned up now. (although i hardly call 'the pressure made to succumb to such vices' owning up), but if he were in a stagnant marriage just because it looks good to be married, then i'd hardly call that brave.
yes, he was a good minister, but until we can judge everyone by the same standards, i feel it's only fair he steps down. because that would be what they'd be hollering some other leader (not of the ruling team, of course) to do if it were what happened to someone else.
i know i may be the only one on ur blog (or on mine) to say that, but that really is how i truly feel. n i really don't care if that makes me sound like a nun.
if he were a divorced/single man/a man with an open fetish/a man whose sexual orientation runs counter to normal, who makes no pretensions to entanglement, and the woman knows it, that's different, you know. but of course, if he were that way, he'd never have been elected minister, regardless of how politically-savvy or excellent a minister he would have been, isn't it? now why's that?
Please... It's nothing to good old Larry Craig in a scandal whereas he was arrested in the Minneapolis-St Paul airport soliciting sex from a State Patrol officer.
Said stall is now a tourist draw for anxious Europeans and other nationalities to take pics of tapping their feet and passing pieces of paper under the stall.
There's talk to putting a statue likeness of him down the street from MTM (Mary Tyler Moore) doing her jump from the show. It would be a foot under a doorstall with a hand holding a TP note all tastefully done in bronze.
Still, if Ted Haggard can be supposedly 'cured' then I'm sure your Minister has a chance as well... GRIN
