Pepper and Eggs

Everyone has their own special breakfast favourites.

Mentioned a while back that rushing to work early has left me with a particularly nasty habit of gobbling up breakfast, possibly swallowing it half digested. Not a pretty picture but when it's barely 7 in the morning and I'm half in my loafers and barely knotted tie with bags out the door, there's only so much I can multitask. Usually have to rely on cereal products to give me that fighting oomph I need to get through the day like a champion.

Been having a short course this week however which has given me some leeway in the mornings to have a more leisurely breakfast. The interesting thing about eggs I'm sure is the countless delicious ways we can fiddle with it - and still come up with something edible. Talk of naughty cholesterol and wicked anginas has led to more than a few breakfast buffs to steer away from this good old staple - which is quite a pity considering that the humble egg is far healthier than other alternatives. And let's face it, even the most inept amateur cook can't manage to go wrong with an omelette.

Eggs for breakfast!
Yummy breakfast!

Almost everyone has their own peculiar preferences when it comes to eggs. My brother used to take steamed eggs for snacks, oddly enough while my dad insists on them being hard boiled. Big Bicep Barry counts his eggs and the calories before he swallows them ( raw?! ) while Charming Calvin likes his sunny side up. For me, it's always the old tried and true kopitiam staple - and this morning, there was just time enough to make my half-boiled eggs the way I like 'em.

One of life's little pleasures is digging into the gooey mix, liberally sprinkled with pepper and soya sauce, and recalling my old schooldays when my grandmother used to make 'em in the kopitiam.

So how was your breakfast?

Like c.calvin I like my fried eggs sunny-side-up. But I'll happily eat eggs cooked just about any way (not entirely sure about century eggs in rice porridge, but...).

Otherwise I have a passion for all breakfast food ... and of course the 'sausage and eggs' special that I mentioned in a recent post on my blog, heh. ;oP

Even though I'm not a huge breakfast fan, I do love having regular (runny) eggs with a touch of salt to dip my toasted bread in.

The biggest meal is always breakfast for me. I always try to take a good amount of time. I always stick with the traditional Japanese. Nothing else. :-) Farmented soybeans :-) No worries. I do brush my teeth. Wanna verify it with kisses?

My decaf capucinno is a must. I am too lazy to make anything else, so I have a couple of slices of corn bread. My fav is dim sum if I can get it. Or, eggs benedict.

I love those kind of sidewalk places, where the coffee is so strong the spoon can stand up by itself, the kitchen is run by some old old woman who can do it all blindfolded, and served by some hot hot hot boy. Yup, and sausage, I love it for breakfast.

love eggs.. esp FRESH half-boiled kopitiam style eggs. But for the life of me, I can't do them like how they do it. so...

Breakfast is an important meal, but most of us don't have the time to prepare it, let alone the time to gulp down a slice of bread. Yeah, gulp it down! My idea of a good breakfast would be those buffet style ones at the hotel! Yummy! fresh eggs and sausages.

Oh, read about that Dr Adamo blood group diet stuff? Haha... some of us modify our breakfast to consider that too.

For me, breakfast eggs are either sunny side-up (sandwiched between bread with chilli and tomato sauce), half-boiled (with bread to dip), scrambled (sandwiched in bread too, but my mum used to make a version with luncheon meat bits inside). The recurring theme is bread with eggs. And btw, I had 3 pieces of wholemeal bread for breakfast this morning, as is.

Good Grief! 16 comments already! ACK! I'm falling behind here. I do like Callën's Xanax for breakfast.. LOL! Mmm.. When I was 10yo, I dipped my hard-boiled egg in a little container of soy sauce and my entire 'American' class laughed at me. :(
Love Eggs over Medium please. No runny stuff and I eat it with soy sauce, which most American diners DON'T offer. My Mom taught me to eat my japanese white rice mixed with soy sauce and raw egg.. She called it egg rice.. and it was good.. until I became salmonella-phobic.

Breakfast was delicious. My mother is in town and she has been cooking for me. I took the day off and woke up to a great breakfast.

Hmmm....eggs. I like them boiled, devilled, scrambled, omelette-style, egg salad, in salads, and what-not. But my most often consumed form is fried over-medium with bacon, sausage, fried potatoes, biscuits (or toast), and gravy. Sometimes with a nice, juicy steak.

Mmmmm E-G-G-S! it's been a while since i hadn't had any i would say, i would go for fried sunny-side up, sometimes with cheese toppings and lots of T-O-M-A-T-O-E-S aside, salt n' peppa of course. Some people add cold yoghurt on the fried eggs, i tied it i would say its a nice combination of cold and warm...
